DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Stress in Teaching

Teachers taking time off with stress related illnesses need help and support. In addition, they account for an estimated £4.5 million each year in school costs. There is a duty of care for the staff, and there are high supply budgets for all schools.

Stress is ...  a temporary state of being.

It is underpinned by emotions which vary from person to person. These emotions can spiral out of control, causing anxiety.
  • When people say they are stressed, it only means something specific to that particular person.
  • Teachers are under more stress than ever before.
  • What can the stressed teacher do to help himself/herself?

      Everyone has choices: you can

  • Carry on and fool yourself that everything is fine by using therapies that only work in the short term
  • Do nothing: deny there is a problem
  • Do something, so you can start to feel better
  • Carry on and use avoidance techniques, like food, drugs or alcohol
  • Carry on and fool yourself that everything is fine by using therapies that only work in the short term
  • Do nothing: deny there is a problem
